  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix brown sugar and melted butter in a bowl.
  3. Add egg and vanilla extract, mix well.
  4. Stir in flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  6. Spread the batter in a greased 9x9 inch baking pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool before cutting into squares.
