Main Ingredients
- 4 slices White bread
- 2 tablespoon Butter softened
- 2 slices Ham
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese grated
Béchamel Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- 1 tablespoon Flour
- 0.5 cup Milk warmed
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Nutmeg grated
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Make the béchamel sauce: In a saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon flour and whisk until smooth. Gradually add 0.5 cup warm milk, whisking constantly until thickened. Season with a pinch of salt and grated nutmeg. Set aside.
Butter one side of each bread slice. Place two slices, buttered side down, on a baking sheet. Spread béchamel sauce on top, add a slice of ham, and sprinkle with half of the grated Gruyère cheese.
Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up. Spread more béchamel sauce on top and sprinkle with the remaining Gruyère cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden brown.
Serve hot and enjoy!
