Fried Green Tomato Sandwich

- 4 Green tomatoes sliced
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Cornmeal
- 2 Eggs beaten
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black pepper
- 1 cup Vegetable oil for frying
- 8 slices Bread toasted
- 1 cup Mayonnaise
- 1 cup Lettuce shredded
1. Slice the green tomatoes.
2. In one bowl, mix flour, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, mix cornmeal. In a third bowl, beat the eggs and buttermilk together.
3. Dip each tomato slice in the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and finally the cornmeal.
4. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the tomatoes until golden brown on each side.
5. Drain the fried tomatoes on paper towels.
6. Assemble the sandwiches with toasted bread, mayonnaise, lettuce, and fried green tomatoes.
