Ingredients

  • 1 lb dried split peas
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse the split peas under cold water.
  2. 2. Add all ingredients to the Instant Pot.
  3. 3. Close the lid and set the Instant Pot to high pressure for 15 minutes.
  4. 4. Allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.
  5. 5. Remove the bay leaves, stir the soup, and serve hot.
