Instructions
Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Add the canned tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
If using, stir in the fresh basil just before serving.
