1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes.
3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until elastic, about 8 minutes. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
4. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Punch down dough, and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll or pat dough into a round. Transfer crust to a lightly greased pizza pan or baker's peel dusted with cornmeal. Spread with desired toppings and bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
