Instructions
Prepare and bake the cake mix according to the package instructions.
Let the cake cool for 15 minutes, then poke holes all over the cake using a fork.
In a bowl, mix the boiling water with the Jell-O until completely dissolved. Add the cold water and stir.
Pour the Jell-O mixture over the cake, making sure it gets into the holes. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Spread the whipped topping over the cake before serving.
