Ingredients 

Pastry

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter cold, cubed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Filling

  • 1 cup cooked wheat
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup candied fruits chopped
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mix until dough forms. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. In a saucepan, combine cooked wheat and milk. Cook over medium heat until thickened, about 10 minutes. Let cool.
  4. In another bowl, mix ricotta cheese, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, candied fruits, and orange zest. Add the cooled wheat mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Roll out the dough and line a tart pan. Pour the filling into the crust. Bake for 60 minutes or until set and golden brown.
  6. Let cool before serving. Enjoy!
