Patty Melts
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 unit onion, thinly sliced
- 8 slices rye bread
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoon butter
Special Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
1. In a skillet, cook the onions over medium heat until caramelized. Set aside.
2. Form the ground beef into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper.
3. In the same skillet, cook the patties over medium-high heat until desired doneness. Set aside.
4. Mix all the special sauce ingredients in a bowl.
5. Butter one side of each slice of rye bread. Assemble the sandwiches with the buttered side out, placing a patty, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, and special sauce inside.
6. Cook the sandwiches in the skillet until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
