Ingredients

  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and bubbles. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potatoes, then half of the cheese. Pour half of the sauce over the top. Repeat layers.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  6. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
