Ingredients 

Crust

  • 1 unit Unbaked pie crust

Filling

  • 1 cup Molasses
  • ¾ cup Hot water
  • ½ teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 unit Egg beaten

Crumb Topping

  • 1 ½ cup All-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Brown sugar
  • ¼ cup Butter cold, cut into pieces

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine molasses, hot water, and baking soda. Let cool slightly, then whisk in the beaten egg.
  3. Pour the molasses mixture into the unbaked pie crust.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the molasses filling.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
  7. Let the pie cool before serving.
