Ingredients 

Tempura Batter Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Cold water
  • 1 large Egg beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
  2. Add the cold water and beaten egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be a bit lumpy.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Dip your choice of vegetables, seafood, or other items into the batter, then carefully place them into the hot oil. Fry until golden and crispy.
  5. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately.
