Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 3 eggs room temperature
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Filling

  • 12 sausages fully cooked

Instructions

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. 2. Whisk in eggs, melted butter, and salt.
  3. 3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. 4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. 5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. 6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it into a rectangle.
  7. 7. Place a sausage in the center of each rectangle and roll the dough around it, pinching the seams to seal.
  8. 8. Place kolaches on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down. Let them rise for another 20 minutes.
  9. 9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
