Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon anise extract
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoon milk
  • ½ teaspoon anise extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the anise extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  5. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
  7. For icing, combine powdered sugar, milk, and anise extract in a small bowl. Drizzle over cooled cookies.
